Lusting after...
Oh Kindle DX! I want you so much!
With it's current price tag there isn't a chance that I would buy it...but it's fun to look at...
I'm a 20 something female graduate student that recently purchased a condo. I'm working toward paying off my mortgage while struggling to avoid spending my money on beauty products and clothes.
Marketing Tips
Direct postcard mailing is an efficient method to reach a geographic target market. You may also include envelopes with print labels and print catalogs for higher saturation. To reach those visiting a geographic region, use print posters placed in high-traffic areas.

You should look into getting a iPod Touch. You can download an application that does basically what the Kindle does. For example, Barnes and Noble eReader.
I've been keeping my eye on the price for the Kindle as well. Barnes and Noble is putting out a new ereader as well, Nook (I think).
But as Kristy mentioned, if you have the iphone, ipod touch or a blackberry you can download a free ereader from barnes and noble for reading ebooks.
Did you see my recent review of the Kindle DX?
Quite honestly, if you're looking for an ereader with great keyboard capabilities, they don't exist. If you're looking for a great ereader capability, the Kindle 2, Sony PRS, Nook, or Cool-er all offer a great experience. The only advantage the DX has over the others is a few more inches of screen space, but that's not worth $200 to me. A smaller device would also fit more easily into my bag--the case for the DX makes it more like the size of a textbook instead of a paperback or even a hardcover.
The smart phone experience is not remotely comparable. The difference between e-ink and a backlist screen is indescribable, not to mention the sizes of the screens.
I'm not really looking to purchase any ereader at this point, but I do like the larger screen. It would be much nicer way to replace all of my books (textbooks and fun reads :).
There's a Halloween scary story contest going on here: http://www.classesandcareers.com/collegelife/the-scariest-freaking-story-ever-contest-2009/. You write your scariest story you can think of, then get as many votes as you can to win an Amazon Kindle. So then you could get it free! Well, it wouldn't be the DX like you want, but at least it's an ereader. Just a thought. :)
I've been wanting a Kindle for ages, but mostly just because they're nifty. I actually prefer the feeling and smell of a real book.
Now, if I could get college textbooks on the Kindle? THAT would make it a no-brainer.
